Advice From Dustin
Dustin's advice about why design is so important:
In the ever-changing world of the Internet, good design has become vitally important. On the web, your visitors makes quick judgments on whether or not they want to stay on your website. So the best way to keep them is to have a website that excites them, meaning it should be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and have great, well-laid-out (read designed) content. One way to test this is to think back on your last online shopping experience. Let’s say you are looking for a specific toy for your child: are you more likely to buy that toy from a company unconcerned with how their website looks, or from a company that has spent time and money on the interface design to ensure that users can find what they are looking for without being distracted?
Dustin's advice for making a mobile website:
Since the release of the first iPhone 3.5 years ago, one of the biggest developments in the web is the emergence of mobile as an important aspect of a company’s web presence. When building a mobile website, consider:
* Content Strategy: You will need a different strategy for content on a mobile website, based on the way visitors navigate on a mobile device. This may mean cutting the non-essential content and features.
* Tailored Mobile Design: With the variety of mobile devices available, you will want a design that is flexible for multiple screen sizes. Additionally, your design needs to be easily navigated using a “touch” interface and simple enough so that the content is the king.
