About Parker

What are your roles at Five Q?

I'm a programmer, which means that I handle the aspects of your project that you'll likely never see but makes it work just like you and our designers want it to. Mostly, I handle back-end application server development in Python and Django, but often I get into more of the front-end interactive development with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Where do you live?

Atlanta, GA

What did you do before coming to Five Q?

Before I came to FiveQ, I worked at a small start up here in Atlanta where I was the Chief Technology Officer, which involved overseeing all the technical aspects of the company and developing a web application. Before that, I worked at a small professional services company where we built very interactive web applications for some very large clients. We helped them be on the cutting edge, and now at Five Q. I'm looking forward to doing the same for ministries and non-profits.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my wife; we like to go hiking, cook, watch movies, and walk down to the Chattahoochee River and talk. When I'm not spending time with my wife, I can be found either on my computer working on a programming side project or playing board games with my guy friends.

Advice From Parker

Parker’s advice about working with programmers

Programmers are trained to take a high-level concept, such as your website, and break it down into tiny logical blocks. When we get into the small concepts, we’ll have lots of questions. "Do you want it to turn left 44 degrees or 45 degrees?" "How exact does this measurement need to be?"

If these are things that matter to you, be specific! We need a lot of detail. However, if there are things that don’t matter as much, feel free to tell us so that we'll stop bugging you and just use our best judgement.
