Truth For Life’s year-end giving propels another year of ministry

Truth For Life and Year-End Giving

Truth For Life is the radio ministry of Alistair Begg, with a mission to teach the Bible with clarity and relevance so that unbelievers will be converted, believers will be established, and local churches will be strengthened.

Like many ministries, year-end giving is a significant portion of the total annual budget. Since partnering with Truth For Life in 2008, we strategically document their yearly goals and analyze the planning implications as we formulate our recommendations. As part of our monthly strategic reviews towards the end of 2009, we recommended a series of advanced planning meetings solely for brainstorming and coordinating the year-end campaign for the ministry at large.

Advanced Planning & Prayer

In mid-2010, Jenn Nenadov and her team at Truth For Life met with a our staff with one goal in mind: ensure a successful year-end giving season in Q4. We committed our time and plans to the Lord in prayer knowing that, even with the best of planning, God is sovereign and that we needed His wisdom and help.

Shortly thereafter, Jenn asked Five Q to review and recommend edits to the cornerstone of their 2010 year-end campaign: a branded print piece entitled "This One Thing I Do". The booklet was both a look back at the faithfulness of God and a look forward to the ministry's goals and strategic plan to spread the Gospel and make disciples.

Collaboration is Key

Collaboration is simply part of Five Q's DNA. We truly put the client's interest first; we want to see them succeed. It is a joy to see our project managers pull together all the pieces to a complex project like this: people, vendors, project constraints, timelines, personalities and collaterals. Tiff Pua is Truth For Life's project manager, and she worked her magic with the year-end project as she coordinated all the design and printed pieces developed by Truth For Life with the web marketing collaterals to be programmed and executed on the website.

During our weekly update meetings with Truth For Life, Tiff ensured that Jenn and her team had continual progress reports, and coordinated all the web-related pieces for the year-end campaign so that they were assigned, reviewed, handed off to Truth For Life for approval, and ready for implementation. As the giving season approached, both Truth For Live and Five Q were ready to roll with the "This One Thing I Do" campaign.

One Coordinated Voice

Five Q understands the importance of a ministry communicating with "one voice". All the different channels such as email, audio, social media, articles, newsletters and other produced content need to be consistent in their messaging. They must work together in tandem and harmony--not conflicting in their tone or style.

In November of 2010, Truth For Life's year-end campaign channels--print, broadcast, and web--were set into motion. The website ads were launched in coordination with targeted emails. Donation giving thermometers were consistently updated on the main website as well as on Facebook. Statistics and web activity were tracked regularly, leading to tweaks for the donation forms in early December to increase activity.

Results and Looking Forward

As part of our advanced planning, we clearly understood Truth For Life's ambitious year-end giving goal of $2.5 million. By God's grace and faithfulness coupled with the work of all involved, the final totals reported in January of 2011 showed over $2.3 million was raised. There was much rejoicing and thankfulness both at Truth For Life and Five Q; we had invested time, thought, energy, and concern throughout the process, and when our clients are happy, we are happy.

We are excited to be involved even more deeply with Truth For Life's strategic planning for 2011. The best part of being in collaboration with our partners is that our team is just a Skype ping or phone call away, making us more of a member of their team than just another vendor...and year-end planning is just a few months away!
